About the Department

19 Full-Time Officers

Our department has a Chief, Deputy Chief, Lieutenant, three Sergeants, two Investigators, Western Il Task Force Officer, and ten Patrol Officers, plus:

  • One full-time public service officer
  • Eight full-time dispatchers
  • Three part-time dispatchers
  • One full-time administrative assistant
  • One full-time janitor

Bike Patrol

Officers are able to patrol more efficiently on bikes during special events, where there is a high concentration of pedestrians such as Bacon Fest, the annual car show, and the Prime Beef Festival. Police cyclists are also used for special details including surveillance and alcohol and tobacco compliance checks.

Happy Retirement to Chief Feithen!

At the City Council meeting on June 19, 2017, Mayor Rod Davies presented retiring Police Chief Bill Feithen with a plaque to thank him for his service to Monmouth. Chief Feithen expressed his gratitude to the members of the police department and said it was an honor to serve the community and that he is happy to be able to close his career here.
