Welcome to the Maple City!

Zoning
Interactive Zoning Map

Our interactive Zoning Map is now online. The ESRI-powered map is hosted at the GIS Center at Western Illinois University. It should be noted that this map is for informational purposes only - the zoning districts outlined on the map are not legally binding, since they are not precisely mapped the the individual property tract coordinates. If you have any specific questions about zoning district boundaries, please contact the Zoning Department.

Simply click on the image below to be taken to the interactive zoning map.

Note: basic functions should be fine across all browsers, but more detailed measurements are a little flaky on the Chrome browser

Our Mission

Our ultimate goal is to serve the public in a way that we would want to be treated if we were to come in and request a service or ask for information.

  • To be able to assist the public in defining and understanding the different codes in our office.
  • Continue with an effective building permit inspection program and making contact with contractors and the public during the construction phase of the project and answer any questions they might have. At the same time, watch out for any projects that a permit has not been issued for.
  • Respond to the public in a timely manner if they have questions in reference to any part of our office requirements.
  • Keep accurate records of all permits and inspections and be able to supply the City Administration and City Council Members with reports needed.
  • Advise the City Administrator and Mayor of any serious problems that may arise in the operation of the office with the public or contractors.
